Our Colorado Vacation
10:38 PMAnthony and I just got back from vacation, so I thought I would share some pictures with you all. We thought it would be fun to do "one last vacation" without the responsibility of parenthood, and since we will miss Thanksgiving out there, we decided to go now! We had a wonderful time. We left late of Friday night and got in around 3:30 am Saturday morning.
Saturday morning Gene provided breakfast for us at the Kiwanis campground, and the fun began! Paul and LaVila came from Oklahoma City for the weekend, and Jim and Shirley came from Broomfield, CO, and spent a day as well.
Sunday afternoon we had a picnic in the park. The weather was absolutely beautiful and the time spent with the family was refreshing and relaxing.
On Monday we headed up the canyon to Estes Park. It has been several years since I have been up there, so it was fun to see what has changed in that amount of time. We went into Rocky Mountain National park to enjoy the sites, and took a little hike around Bear Lake. The weather wasn't totally cooperative, but we had a nice time anyway. The scenery is so beautiful. Mom and Dad stopped at Bear Lake on their honeymoon, but hadn't been back for 35 years, so it was neat that they got to visit again as well. Mom said it had changed a tremendous amount since she was there last. It was still quite beautiful-- that certainly had not changed.
After our time in the park we headed down to Estes Park to do some shopping (which of course included a caramel-toffee-chocolate-covered apple, and a Christmas ornament (my standard souvenir).
Of course you can't get together without playing some Rook. Chantel and I are so pleased that Uncle Paul knows that we are truly champions, and not just in our hearts :-) Rematch anytime....
The time went extremely quickly, like always, but it was worth the drive. Can't wait to take our little peanut someday!
