Who knew it would be such a blessing??
10:53 AMThis may seem like an unusual post, but our car broke down on Saturday, and I am so thankful, I decided to share!
God has blessed our car with long life, and although there are many benefits to this, there are also a few draw back with parts that wear out and eventually break down. Our struts were going bad and we knew it, but didn't think it was anything urgent to change. However, on Saturday we had quite a surprise when we were sitting in the parking lot at Village Point Shopping Center in Omaha. There were not any parking spots open at the time, and we needed to transfer Little Brad's car seat from our car to mom and dad's. I was right in the middle of the lane getting the car seat out and as a car was going around us I heard a loud bang/explosion. It sounded almost like the car had hit us, but when I looked he was still 3 feet away.
One of the first blessings is that due to the situation of the day, Anthony had followed me in to Omaha in Katie's car so that she would have it to run around Omaha in(blessing #1). I am so glad I wasn't alone with my little baby trying to figure out what to do.
We couldn't see what was wrong at first, but since Anthony was yelling at me to get the car out of the way I got in to move it (a spot had just opened up a few feet away... blessing #2) and it sounded TERRIBLE as soon as I started to move. Anthony ended up getting in and just driving it into the parking spot. Upon further inspection we found out that the spring had broken, and the front driver's side of the car was sitting on the front tire.
Blessing #3... it was a beautiful day. Three days earlier in the week it was -6 degrees. On Saturday it was in the mid 30's
Blessing #4... Katie was there with her car and no real plans for the day, so we didn't even have to wait for a ride. We were able to just hop in the car with her and go to Talon's first birthday party.
Blessing #5... Maybe this should be blessing #1, but if the spring had broken just 3 minutes earlier I would have been driving down the road 65-70 miles per hour. Everyone we have talked to said it is really unusual for a spring to break like that when you are not even moving. If I had been driving we would at least have had a tire pop, and there is a good chance that I would have had an accident. Dodge street has 6 lanes of traffic right there. Our guardian Angel was really watching out for us right then.
Blessing #6... Anthony's boss lets him use a company pickup when needed, so instead of having to pay for towing, Anthony could get the pickup and trailer from work to pull the car back.
Blessing #7... Good friends that were willing to go to Omaha late Saturday night after the mall closed to load up the car and bring it back to Fremont.
Blessing #8... A good mechanic who was able to fix the car quickly.
Blessing #9... A cute baby!Couldn't resist throwing that one in!
