It is that time of year. New Year's resolution time. I am generally a goal oriented person, and each new year I go through a self evaluation and write out some new goals for the year. I have to admit that many of these goals are the same every year.

Seriously, how many times has eat healthier and exercise been on your list?

Many times I start the year out great. I am excited to get going; to take back my life and become the disciplined, healthy, spiritual, skinny person I think I would like to be with a larger savings account than last year.

It is easy to start well, but difficult to finish well. I find myself becoming distracted from my goals and feel my resolve fade when it is time to get on that treadmill or pass up the piece of cheesecake. Eventually it is easy to feel like I have already blown it so many times that I may as well just forget it. Then I think about this.

21 But this I call to mind,
and therefore I have hope:

22 The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;

23 they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.

Lamentations 3:21-23

Praise the Lord that His mercies are not new once a year, but every morning.

Great is His faithfulness.
