Nostalgia
10:10 PMDear Tucker,
Tonight I rocked you to sleep for the last time as a one-year-old. You wrapped your little arms around me and snuggled in so tight that I wanted the moment to last forever.
Two years ago today Daddy and I were making sure we had everything packed, and ready. We were excited, nervous, and bubbly wondering what you would look like, what the day would bring with the delivery, what your personality would be like, and how we would do as parents. We got everything ready, then tried to get some sleep, but we were too excited about you to sleep very much. We had gotten ice and snow, so we made sure to get the cars cleared and ready so that just-in-case I went into labor before morning, we would be ready.
The day you were born was one of the best days of my life. You were perfect. I remember telling Jenda my midwife that I would go through labor all over again. You were worth it all.Daddy and I were worried about the adjustment stage when you came home, but it was nothing like we had anticipated. We felt like you were the piece of our life that had been missing, and when we brought you home it was like everything was as it should be.
I remember the first week when you were still adjusting to this big scary world and were waking up around 3 am. Daddy was amazing; he got up with you every night and rocked you and snuggled. He still talks about how special the time was with you. He loved it, even though he still had to get up and go to work in the morning.
You have changed so much.
The changes have been much more subtle lately and they are easy to go un-noticed until I stop and think about how much you have grown.
You are such a tease lately. I love when I put my furry black sock on your arm and it suddenly turns into a scary, growling monster chasing me through the house.
You love to be tickled and to wrestle with Daddy, so you initiate it whenever possible.
You are saying so many new words.
You are doing great on your potty training.
You have started to do puzzles and play downstairs like such a big boy.
You love tractors, combines, and trains (Thomas especially)
You love to look at things on the computer and have been watching mama to see how it is done.
You are so mechanical. You can figure anything out!
You imitate everything we do.
You love to climb.
You love to play with your Nana and Papa, and Grandma and Grandpa. You do all kinds of tricks and showing off for them like no other.
I can't wait to see what is in store for us over the next year. You are our adventure.
I love you.
Love, Mama
