Mother's Day 2011

9:09 PM

Today was a beautiful day. I am so blessed to be a Mommy. Anthony and Tucker have been wonderful today. The morning started out with A getting up with Mr. T and letting me sleep in a little. Then Mr. T came bouncing into my room, handed me a card and shouted, "Happy Burfday!" I didn't stop giggling for quite a while. He was so proud of his card. It had Winnie the Pooh on it, Piglet and some flowers, and T wanted to make sure I didn't miss a single part of it.

I got up to a yummy breakfast including a pot of fresh coffee made by my 2 favorite boys and another card from Anthony (without Pooh, Piglet, and flowers :-) After church we then went to Earl May and got our annuals for T and I to plant in our pots. He told me he wanted to grow some carrots in his garden, so we picked up a pack of seeds too. I don't know where the fascination for planting carrots came from exactly, but I did notice that last week Curious George planted some carrots in his garden, so I suspect he was the primary influence. T's enthusiasm for gardening would have made Grandpa very proud. Anthony and I were cracking up at Earl May when T told us he needed an orange watering can for his garden. We came home, put on our "gardening clothes" and got our hands dirty while A grilled for us. I remember a friend telling me that she would plant flowers with her Mom every Mothers day and I thought that was a beautiful tradition. I am hoping that we will be able to keep this one going!

After lunch we headed to Platte River State Park (one of the most beautiful and peaceful parks around here). We took a beautiful hike through the wooded bluffs down by the river, watched the swans on the lake, then hung the hammock down by the water and relaxed. It was absolutely perfect.
